The financial management for the new GEC Plessey Telecommunications Holdings Ltd has been named and, as expected, is heavily weighted towards Plessey personnel. Headed by finance director Tony Isaac who comes from Plessey, the committee has 10 other places, and just three have gone to GEC although the treasurer has yet to be announced. This composition reflects the way that business is done in the two parent companies: GEC’s telecommunications financial affairs were previously controlled centrally from head office. The new firm is still being tightlipped about how it plans to rationalise the overlap between its System X manufacturing plants although there is less than a month to go before the company is officially launched. A union spokesman said that staff from both GEC and Plessey were suffering from information starvation.
