Plessey Co Plc cancelled its half-time results meeting yesterday, giving rise to the unworthy suspicion that it wanted to take the figures back and massage them the better to defend itself against the bid from GEC Siemens Plc – but in fact it did publish the figures (failing to get them through to us), and showed pre-tax profit up 10% at UKP75m, putting them at the low end of analysts’ expectations.
