PLESSEY AND GEC MERGER OF TELECOM INTEREST STILL NOT AGREED

Although Plessey Co and GEC Plc insist that they are still on course for merger of their telecommunications interests to create GEC-Plessey Telecommunications Ltd, Plessey has had to postpone a letter to shareholders giving financial details because some still remain to be agreed: we also hear that Racal Electronics Plc has put its foot down and that the 50-50 Orbitel Ltd digital cellular joint venture company with Plessey will not be going into the merged firm.
