PLATINUM TECHNOLOGY GETS RIGHTS TO THE PLATINUM NAME

By CBR Staff Writer

The long-standing dispute over trademark rights to the name Platinum between application and database management company Platinum Technology Inc and ERP shop Platinum Software Corp has been settled. Platinum Technology gets all rights to the name. Platinum Software will change its name this year. How much Platinum Technology is paying isn’t known. It’s granting Platinum Software rights to the name for a year while it re-brands itself. Platinum Software sued Platinum Technology for rights to the name back in 1997 (CI No 3,199) when it was still primarily known for its financial and accounting software. It has since made the transition to become an ERP shop.
