Platform hires key open source cluster developers

Platform Computing Corp has hired the principle developers of Scalable Systems Pte Ltd, in doing so acquiring the co-developers of the Rocks open source cluster software and helping to establish its Open Source Grid Development Center in Singapore.

The Markham, Canada-based grid software vendor has been offering Platform Rocks since November 2004, building on work started by the San Diego Supercomputing Center in early 2000.

Based in Singapore, Scalable Systems has been co-developing Rocks since 2001, and its developers will continue to focus on supporting, developing, and contributing to the SDSC Rocks project as they establish Platform’s Open Source Grid Development Center.
