Plantronics has integrated its Unified Communications (UC) product portfolio with Cisco Unified Communications applications, to provide Cisco customers with intelligent audio features and sound quality, and to enhance workforce collaboration during online meetings, video conferences and PC-based calls.

According to Plantronics, the integration delivers call control for Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 8.0, UC Integration for Microsoft Office Communicator 8.0, UC Integration for WebEx Connect and IP Communicator.

The UC products enables companies deploying Cisco UC to increase user adoption and rein in costs through easy installation and plug and play usability.

In addition, Cisco UC provides new ways to build productivity by enabling collaboration with remote colleagues and across dispersed workgroups.

Plantronics claims that its audio devices enhance Cisco’s integrated voice, web and video conferencing applications by providing remote answer/end, mute and volume control so users can easily control calls directly from the audio device.

Further, the integration extends Plantronics’ wireless products functionality, such as the new Savi 430 which provides excellent audio quality and range for PC-based conversations through DECT wireless technology.

Michael Gjerstad, vice president of strategic partnerships at Plantronics, said: "UC is the next step in the evolution of business communication and, like email once did, it is transforming the way we connect and collaborate.

"Through this collaboration with Cisco, we are enhancing the user experience while addressing the challenges of a UC deployment. Professionals have become accustomed to using devices they choose, so our breadth of products will help increase employees’ adoption of UC solutions."
