PLANNING SCIENCES TO CHANGE ITS NAME TO GENTIA

By CBR Staff Writer

Decision support stalwart Planning Sciences Ltd, London, UK is to change its name to Gentia Software Ltd, after its flagship product, on May 21st. The name change is to be announced at the Database and Client/Server show in Boston, where the company’s US office is located, in an attempt to increase corporate and brand awareness of the Gentia executive information system and multi- dimensional database product line, rather than the company itself. A new release of Gentia is expected in June or July. Meanwhile at DB/Expo in San Francisco, the company unveiled its Java strategy, promising a Java version of its Gentia client software next year, along with a new data mining product written in Java.
