PIXEL SEMICONDUCTOR HAS SINGLE CHIP VIDEO WINDOW PROCESSOR

By CBR Staff Writer

Cirrus Logic Inc’s Plano, Texas-based Pixel Semiconductor Inc has come out with a single-chip video window processor designed to manage the display of real-time, full-motion video in desktop computer systems: the CL-Px0070 Video Window Generator chip is claimed to solve fundamental problems associated with integrating real-time video and interactive multimedia applications into traditional computer systems, performing complex analogue-to-digital format conversion and video image scaling at video data processing rates – smoothly scaling video data from full-screen size to that of postage stamps, the company company claims, noting that the CL-Px0070 is not dependent on a particular operating system, CPU, or system architecture; samples are available now at $55 for 1,000-up with volume later on this quarter.
