As a part of its expansion plans in Europe and North America (CI No 2,667), Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire-based Pixel Innovations Ltd, developer of TERMiTE terminal emulator, graphical user interface and communications package, has signed a distribution deal with VMark Software Inc. Westborough, Massachusetts-based VMark has become a master distributor for TERMiTE, which provides a Windows-based front end to the company’s existing client base so that they can access host data via a personal computer. It will also pitch jointly with Pixel for new business. VMark, a supplier of the uniVerse Pick-under-Unix database management system, said that with its recent acquisition of Easel Corp (CI No 2,592), it is moving from being a supplier of databases to supplying complete development packages and that TERMiTE completes the tool set. It said that as a result of the Easel purchase it now expected to make more sales directly to customers, rather than through its traditional indirect, third party channels. Both companies described the deal as a win-win situation, and both denied any concern over VMark’s announcement of second quarter losses (CI No 2,705) . VMark’s head of channel management, John Crosby, said that the company was back on target for the third quarter. Pixel, which recently opened an office in Atlanta, Georgia (CI No 2,667), announced that it has a รบ1m war chest to invest in expansion in North America and the Pacific Rim. It would not reveal the source of the money, but said that it came from a major UK finance source.
