The Pipex Ltd subsidiary of Unipalm Group Plc, Cambridge, UK, has extended its commercial Internet services with World Wide Web communications based on a dual processor Sun Microsystems Inc SparcServer 20 with 45Gb of storage. Pipex claims this is the largest commercial public file server in Europe. The server is connected to the Pipex network at its main point of presence in London’s Docklands, with 16Mbps of external communications bandwidth to the Pipex network. Pipex recently brought together its European partners under the name of Pipex International, with up to 50 points of presence on its European network – 24 of them are in Germany and eight in the UK.
