Rhyl, Clwyd company Pinacl PCSL, formerly Pilkington Communications Systems Ltd until it de-merged from Pilkington Plc last September, has added a stand-alone local bridge with smart features to its family of Ethernet bridges. The Welsh company says that the 5051 LB offers local network interconnection via plug-in cabling media modules and is fully configurable; the so-called smart features enable it to learn addresses of all personal computers on the network. Apparently it is also manageable by the SLIP interface, any SNMP-based management package, or by a terminal connected to a serial port. The PCSL 5051 will be priced from ?820 for the SNMP local bridge.
