According to the agreement, the company will supply line-side DQPSK optical receivers which use patented photodiode, amplifier and component packaging technologies. The 40G optical receivers, incorporated into customer’s transponders, would support long-haul telecommunication networks.
Robin Risser, president and general manager of Picometrix, said: Even in these challenging economic times, the demand for bandwidth is still increasing at a rapid rate driven by bandwidth intensive video applications, such as IP-HDTV. These video applications require the next-generation of high bandwidth infrastructure to effectively deliver these services to locations across the globe and Advanced Photonix, through its Picometrix subsidiary, is an industry leader in providing state-of-the-art optical receivers for these applications.
Advanced Photonix supplies optoelectronic semiconductor components and subsystems and terahertz instrumentation to OEM customers globally. Its products include patented indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) and silicon (Si) based APD, PIN, and FILTRODE photodetectors; high-speed optical receivers; and terahertz instrumentation.
