The brave new world of multimedia beckons to Dick Pick, founder of Pick Systems Inc, Irvine, California, and as well as adding multimedia capabilities to the Pick database over the next six to 18 months, he has been talking about an entry into the personal digital assistant market with Sony Corp with a handheld device called the Pix 100. This will have liquid crystal diode display, CD-ROM memory and a keyboard. It will be aimed at the likes of sales representatives and estate agents, who will be able to download stock or property details from the Pix onto simple terminals such as televisions. It will have a full 640Kb memory. This is the low end application, we’re working on bigger things, says Pick.
