The alliance is affiliated with the San Diego County Medical Society and is a growing nonprofit organization with a potential to reach 17,000 physicians in southern California.

In an announcement to the media Dr Steve Carson, chief medical officer of CHA said, We chose PhysicianAccess after reviewing a myriad of practice management systems – many of which only addressed two or three of the areas critical to physicians. PhysicianAccess has a fully integrated offering that we believe will bring the most value. We expect many of our physicians to replace their existing systems with the PhysicianAccess offerings.

PAxNet, the PhysicianAccess system, provides the essentials of what the physician needs in the exam room; the ability to record clinical observations, write prescriptions, order tests and capture charges, in a manner that supports the practice workflow. It integrates these functions with a practice management system, an electronic medical record, and secure patient-office communications. The application has proven to increase efficiency and productivity in physician offices.

An increasing number of health alliances and medical societies like CHA have been choosing our technology over other practice management or electronic medical record systems because they are impressed with our unique architecture, comprehensive offerings, and wireless options, said Robert Gunn, CEO of PhysicianAccess. We have designed PAxNet to make it easy for physicians to manage their clinical and administrative tasks through a fully integrated system, and plan to continue this commitment to superior technology by expanding functionality in the wireless and cellular arena.

CHA is forecasting that it will have 2,000 physicians utilizing PhysicianAccess applications within the next 18 months.

PAxNet was built from the ground up as an integrated Internet-based application. Its advantages over other applications include low cost deployment, painless upgrades, elimination of on-site system administration, and accessibility to critical medical information.

Our goal is to reduce the financial and administrative burdens facing physician practices by bringing them powerful programs and services like PAxNet that will result in improved care and reduced cost, said Richard Maiatico, executive director of CHA. We expect to quickly grow our affiliations throughout southern California medical societies as physicians see the gains possible to members. We’re looking forward to helping physicians cut overhead and improve management techniques.
