Phoenix Network Inc, Golden, Colorado provider of phone services over other peoples’ networks, has a letter of intent to acquire its own national network by buying privately-held Dallas company US One Communications Corp, which offers independent local exchange services. Phoenix will buy the company for new shares with an indicated value of $89m. US One owns and operates a national network of Lucent Technology Corp switches capable of both local and long distance service. Phoenix says it has already converted more than 5% of its traffic over to the US One network; US One wanted a partner to help it to complete its network.
