Blu-ray is not unrivalled in its offering of high quality digital content given that HD-DVD format has also made a timely entrance onto the digital media market. But according to Reuters, head of Philip’s consumer electronics business, Rudy Provoost, told a briefing at the recent Consumer Electronics Show that Blu-ray offers the best in picture quality, provides the most storage capacity, and gives consumers more choices than any other HD source.
Although the price of the disc player was not disclosed, it is expected to be available in the second half of 2006.
