Philips Electronics NV is investing some $200m to expand its US wafer fabrication plant in Albuquerque, New Mexico, putting new production equipment in its existing 6 fab, and a new 6 fab alongside it The expansion will boost production of 6 wafers at the plant to some 200,000 a year, from around 95,000 in 1994. The workforce is seen growing by 400 to 1,700 people.
