Philips announced its three new contenders for the multimedia projector market at CeBIT this week. The ProScreen 4700 Definition XGA projector; the Fellini 100 video only XGA projector and the Brilliance 80 inch Multimedia Screen. The ProScreen 4700 Definition XGA multimedia projector is designed for high resolution presentations including financial data, intricate graphics, and CAD/CAM applications. It also enables XGA projection from notebooks which use interlaced and non interlaced signals. The product features the Limesco chip which enables compatibility with a range of PC platforms, digital/analog video sources and resolution standards including SVGA and VGA up to SXGA. Images can be taken from a variety of media sources including PCs, notebooks, laser discs, DVD players and VCRs. While external surround-sound speakers can be plugged in, the ProScreen 4700 Definition features a 6 W internal speaker. The ProScreen 4700 is available at 5,495 pounds in the UK. The Fellini is a home theatre projector and the successor to the company’s ProScsreen 4500. It offers the ability to optimize the picture performance to suit the user’s needs. The Optibrite option gives high brightness in strong daylight viewing conditions, and the Opticolour option offers high colour quality for the cinematic projection of films and videos.
