PHILIPS READIES $600 DVD PLAYER

Philips Electronics NV plans to launch a Digital Video Disk player in the US for around $600 in the spring. The company will also launch a recordable compact disk drive for data applications in Europe and the US next month. The drives will sell for about $900.
