PHILIPS PLANS SALE ITS STAKE IN CABLE SYSTEM OPERATOR

Philips Electronics NV plans to sell its 50% stake in United & Philips Communications BV cable system operator to United International Holdings Inc of Denver, Colorado. The sale will raise gross proceeds of about $425m for Philips, but a large part will be in United paper.
