PHILIPS LOOKS TO EXPAND BSO/ORIGIN CO-OPERATION

Philips Electronics NV says it is investigating ways to expand co-operation on software with its unlisted 41%-owned Dutch affiliate BSO/Origin BV, Utrecht: Management of both companies are looking at ways to expand existing co-operation – we will examine further steps when the study is finished, Philips said, adding that reports that Philips might sell its communications and processing unit to BSO/Origin were pure speculation, he said – but long use of the dismissive term by IBM Corp about things that later turned out to be true mean that should not be taken as a firm denial of the company’s plans.
