PHILIPS LAYS OFF 54% OF EINDHOVEN WORKFORCE

Philips Electronics NV is slashing 105 of the 195 jobs at its Eindhoven-based picture tube pilot factory this year, 54% of the total. It is expected that compulsory redundancies are unavoidable, but it is not yet known how many people will be affected, it said.
