PHILIPS’ HDS-NA HIGH DEFINITION SYSTEM TESTED FOR SATELLITE DELIVERY

Hughes Communications Inc and Philips Laboratories have agreed to test Philips’ HDS-NA High Definition System for North America for satellite delivery of high definition television: the agreement, worth $2.5m, will be conducted on a co-operative basis by scientists and engineers of both companies and will result in satellite-delivered high definition TV tests in 1989.
