The PFU joint venture between Fujitsu, Matsushita Electric and Uchida Yoko has developed a line concentrator which when installed in Nippon Telegraph’s Dress digital network reduces the number of leased lines required to one sixth of current requirement so that if it is used in a value-added network service, just two leased lines will be needed to serve 12 terminal users; it is based on a Fujitsu A-30 supermini, and uses the NTT DCNA Digital Communications Network Architecture, which is able to exchange files and data with IBM’s SNA; Matsushita will install the device, manufactured by PFU, in its planned value-added network service.
