Lancome has selected PFSweb as its integrated fulfillment and technology partner.
PFSweb, the international eLogistics specialist with operations in America, Europe and the South Pacific, has further established its presence in the industry through an agreement with the US division of global cosmetics leader Lancome, with particular emphasis on its online activities. The contract calls for PFSweb to service various fulfillment- and technology-based elements of Lancome’s catalog and eCommerce activities.
The combination of PFSweb’s logistics infrastructure and IT capabilities has created a timely logistics solution that encompasses order management, web-enabled CRM centers, international transport and distribution services, reverse logistics, billing and collection services, and the Entente Suite of ERP interfacing technology.
This strong focus on online applications, developed in collaboration with parent company Daysitec International (from which it is set to demerge this May), has gained PFSweb a number of contracts with leading global clients on both sides of the Atlantic, including IBM, Adidas and Hewlett-Packard. Lancome’s choice of logistics partner has been strongly based on PFSweb’s ability to provide an integrated logistics and leading edge technology offering.
The demise of many high-profile B2C sites has led many skeptics to denounce eCommerce. But while the online retail formula may be far from perfect, eCommerce represents far more than convenient 24-hour shopping. The ability to integrate all elements of the supply chain through a single system to which all parties in the process have access is far more important. PFSweb offers distribution services that are largely comparable among players in the industry – but it is the automation of these services and the technology backing and complementing them that sets the company apart from the crowd.
Given the volatility associated with all things ‘e’, it is refreshing to see an operator that has got the formula right. Customers have had a taste of technology in their supply chains and they like it. Unless it takes an unexpected turn, PFSweb is set for a long ride.
