St Petersburg-based international access provider PeterStar says it has finished the first stage of its digital overlay network in the city. The company says 95 miles of fibre optic cable have now been laid around the city. The next phase will take fibre to Vasiliyevsky Island. PeterStar has also signed an interconnect agreement with St Petersburg Telecom, a cellular mobile telephone operator in the city, to provide it with local inter-city and international connections. PeterStar is a joint stock company whose share-holders are the local telephone company, the St Petersburg based telephone company, St Petersburg Long Distance, and a Toronto-based investment company.
