PERVASIVE TO BUY EVERYWARE FOR WEB APP SERVER

By CBR Staff Writer

Embedded database developer Pervasive Software Inc has made a $9.7m bid to acquire web application server developer EveryWare Inc. Pervasive intends to bundle the Toronto, Canada-based firm’s software, including its Tango web app builder, as part of a web- enabled data management suite with the Pervasive.SQL database. Pervasive will also continue to sell all of EveryWare’s software, including its Bolero internet decision support system. Robert Adams, vice president of worldwide marketing claims that the deal will give Pervasive an edge on competitors such as SilverStream Inc. However, he could give no time frame for the release of the web-enabled data management suite, only saying that it would be launched as soon as we can. He said that the buy-out of EveryWare Inc was a friendly deal, which had the approval of both boards. EveryWare’s shareholders are expected to vote on the bid within 45 days.
