Aquarius Systems Integral, ASI, one of the larger private sector personal computer assembly operations in Russia, has changed its legal status from joint venture to joint stock company. Its major shareholders will be JV Aquarius, Neftekhimbank, the savings bank of Russia and Micropribor. The new ASI will be called Aquarius Systems Interface. The company also announced that it is to end assembling 80286-based personal computers at its plant in Shouys – obsolete, even in Russia. The company recently signed a contract with Computer Associates Russia to bundle the SuperCalc spreadsheet with new ASI personal computers. Lotus Development Corp tried the same thing in 1991 but the idea failed to catch on with the local customers.
