PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGIES HAS NETWORK-NET GATEWAY UPDATE

By CBR Staff Writer

Bay Networks Inc’s Performance Technology acquisition (CI 2,863) has announced Release 3.1 of its flagship Instant Internet local network-to-Internet gateway product. The new version provides support for Java, as well as 32-bit Winsock support. Other enhancements include pre-packaged set-up scripts for linking to Internet service providers, and the ability for the system to import the Novell Inc-developed NetWare Directory Services database or NetWare Bindery automatically to establish user and group data-bases. Bay Networks has also increased the product’s speed, so that by using the multilink Point-to-Point Protocol, ISDN bandwidth access of 128Kbps is available. There is no word yet on pricing.
