PeopleSoft Inc this week became the first vendor to license Cisco Systems Inc’s new QoS Policy Manager software to enable companies to set priorities for their PeopleSoft data traffic. The software, which falls within the networking giant’s CiscoAssure product line, will allow customers to dedicate network bandwidth to certain PeopleSoft applications that will then have priority over other applications. In addition, PeopleSoft and Cisco said they have worked together to deliver policy templates, implementation guidelines, and test reports to guide customers in the deployment of CiscoAssure services on their PeopleSoft systems. The overall aim is to speed the flow of PeopleSoft business information on Cisco networks, said Marc Stillman, VP of the Alliance Solution Center at PeopleSoft. Specifically, PeopleSoft said QoS Policy Manager will enable its customers to improve and control the quality of service for crucial business functions such as financial transactions and payroll. As well as ERP applications, the QoS software can also be used in conjunction with PeopleSoft’s front office application suite, or any other non-PeopleSoft software.
