PeopleSoft Inc has reported fourth-quarter net income of $39.5m on revenue up 76.5% at $260.6m, compared to net income of $1.7m a year ago. Earnings per share rose to $0.16 from $0.01 for the quarter, beating the First Call consensus of $0.14. The Pleasanton, California vendor of accounting, manufacturing and supply chain software says license fee revenue rose 64% to $139.8m in the quarter, while services grew 93% to $120.8m. Revenues from international operations rose 73% to $40.3m for the quarter and accounted for 15% of the total, down from 16% last year. Total contracting activity for the fourth quarter rose 72.4% to $233.2m. For the year, net income was $108.3m on revenue up 81.2% at $815.7m, against net income of $35.9m last year. Earnings per share climbed to $0.44 from $0.15 for the year. Results for both year-ago periods include acquisition charges of $29.4m. Revenues from license fees for the year rose 71% to $433.2m, while service revenue from services for the same period increased 94% to $382.5m. International revenues increased by 73% to $125.1m or 15% of total revenues for the full year. PeopleSoft reckons first-quarter revenues to be up 75% year-over-year and sees revenues for 1998 increasing 50% to 60%.
