Wouldn’t you just know it – expecially after the unsavoury revelations in the News of the World the other Sunday – a New York company called Baseline Inc has formed NY Networks Services to provide technical services and a support network for magazines and other major media that want to run viewdata services – and who do you suppose is their first, and so far only taker? Yup, Penthouse: Petline is an on-line chat, shopping and adult service that will include the ability to download photos of Pets and other magazine illustrations, who are betting that its readers are so hungry to feast their eyes on naked flesh that they will pay $10 and spend 20 minutes down-loading just one high-resolution photograph of a kind that they can buy a whole magazine of for under half the price.
