Over the last six months the Orlando, Florida-based company has been ramping up its European-based engineering, consulting, support, business development and sales investments, in response, it claims, to increased demand for its Open BI Suite in the region.
According to Pentaho’s figures, around 100,000 downloads of its open source BI software comes from European firms.
Pentaho said it has already signed up over a dozen certified systems integrator partners in Europe and plans to add more sales staff.
Pentaho was founded in 2002 by former executives of leading commercial software firms like IBM, Hyperion Solutions, Cognos, Oracle and SAS Institute.
The company is effectively stewarding the development of a LAMP-like BI stack that pulls together a set of interoperable open source BI tools like JFreeReport (enterprise reporting), Mondrian (OLAP), Kettle (ETL), and Weka (data mining) into an integrated BI stack. Pentaho is the primary sponsor and owner of these open source projects.
