PENTAGON WANTS EXPORT LICENSING FOR ADVANCED VLSI PARTS MOVED FROM COMMERCE DEPARTMENT TO OFFICE OF MUNITIONS CONTROL

The Pentagon certainly lives up to its role as the most pugnacious and quarrelsome of the departments of the US government: while the entire rest of the administration and the nation are striving to increase exports of chips, the militia wants export licensing for advanced VLSI parts to be snatched away from the Commerce Department, which hates to say no, and handed over to the Office of Munitions Control, which long ago erased any word for the affirmative from its vocabulary.
