Peerless Systems Corporation a provider of embedded imaging, networking and storage solutions, announced today its collaboration with Nomadix, the leading supplier of infrastructure enabling Internet services, to evaluate the integration of high-speed Internet access and driverless printing solution for the hospitality market using Peerless’ MagicPrint and Nomadix’ Universal Subscriber Gateway. Hotels that standardize on MagicPrint and the USG can now provide their guests with high-speed Internet access and the ability to print most documents to a networked printer without reconfiguring the guest’s computer or requiring any client-side software being loaded. This is a driverless solution that meets away-from-office printing needs of the traveling professional and provides the convenience of one-stop billing to the guest’s hotel room invoice.

Peerless’ MagicPrint Driverless Printing Solution allows users to print files or web pages to any enabled local networked printer via their laptops without installing any additional software. Within seconds, the user can browse for a file on his or her laptop, or type in the URL of a web page he or she would like to print, or preview the file or web page before printing it. A tailor-made solution for the hospitality market, MagicPrint supports a 24/7 convenient printing option for guests which can also augment the hotel’s business center opportunities for guests who may need to copy, collate, bind, and hole punch their print jobs.

The Nomadix USG’s patented Dynamic Address Translation (DAT) functionality offers a true plug and play solution by providing transparent broadband network connectivity covering every PC configuration. No software downloads or PC configuration changes are required in order to get connected to the network enabling guests to access a hotel’s broadband Internet services.

The Peerless MagicPrint solution is a great complement to our Universal Subscriber Gateway as it provides printing capability with the same no touch, no software configuration experience customers demand in Internet connectivity said John DiGiovanni, director of product marketing, Nomadix. This driverless printing solution enables a hotel to provide its guests with the convenience of having local printing billed directly to the room bill thus minimizing the complexity of integrating new technology into the hotel’s Property Management System.

We are pleased to work with Nomadix to pursue the valuable application of our office printing solutions for users in various off-site environments, such as in hotels, said Greg Wong, product marketing director for Peerless Systems Corporation. Guests get an easy-to-use, high performance, Internet access and printing solution in hotels. MagicPrintä may even be utilized anywhere Internet connectivity and printing capabilities are needed such as airports, corporate campuses or dormitories.

MagicPrint’s initial installation is at the Westlake Village Inn in Westlake Village, California, and features a Lexmark Optra T614 printer. MagicPrint is proving to be a consumer service that complements the hospitality market’s increased utilization of the Internet as a guest amenity.

We are proud to offer innovative services to our guests by providing high-speed Internet access and convenient 24/7 local printing from every guest and meeting room, said D.J. Lockhart, Marketing Director, Westlake Village Inn. Since there is no software to load, setup time is instant and there is no left over configurations to unload when the guests check out.
