Pebble has raised over $20m on Kickstarter for its Pebble Time smartwatch.

The company has raised a total of $20.3m from 78,471 backers. The watches are expected to be shipped in May this year.

Earlier in 2015, Pebble raised $500,000 for the smartwatch in just 17 minutes.

The new watch features color e-paper display along with a microphone to help users respond to notifications.

With the new watch, Pebble has enhanced the battery life for approximately seven days. Time is compatible with the existing Pebble apps.

It operates in -10°C to +60°C temperatures with a maximum operating altitude of 10,000ft, working on both Android and iOS.

The company’s other smartwatch, Pebble Time Steel, also has color e-paper display with LED backlight. It has a battery life of up to 10 days and operates in temperature ranges similar to Pebble Time.

Since its launch in April 2009, Pebble raised more than $1.6bn from over 8.3 million people, funding more than 81,000 creative projects.
