PC DOCS Inc, the Burlington, Massachusetts-based vendor of document management software, expects to have fully integrated its newly acquired subsidiary, Canadian search engine manufacturer Fulcrum Technologies Inc by the end of this year, according to the vice-president and general manager of PC DOCS Europe, Andrew Lloyd-Skinner (CI No 3,366). The group’s European operations held a mini-version of the DOCSummit ’98 event, held in Florida in February, in London this week, the idea being to explain last month’s takeover of Fulcrum to customers in the Old Continent, as well as announcing a number of enhancements to their product line. Lloyd-Skinner said that, in product terms, the two companies’ offerings are complementary, as PC DOCS will now be able to market its document management solution with Fulcrum’s KNET, making it possible to access documents on the internet as well as in proprietary transactional data bases. As for the two companies’ structures, he said they too complement each another, he said as Fulcrum already has a worldwide sales presence, not to mention customer base, which PC DOCS has been seeking to build.
