The new service is based on the company’s existing biometric technology and offers users two distinct services, Express Sign-In and Express Checkout.
Express Sign-In allows consumers to log onto websites they commonly use by sliding a finger across the scanner on their computer to login. As with Express Sign-in, the checkout system allows consumers to slide a finger across the scanner to checkout online. If a positive identification is made, the system accesses the shopper’s Pay By Touch wallet, which contains existing payment information, shipping information and frequent shopper account information.
Pay By Touch says it is already in negotiations with several internet retailers and financial institutions across the country and plans to begin deployment of the service in Spring 2006.
