PAUL ALLEN DUMPED BRODERBUND SHARES TOO SOON

It was revealed in an SEC filing that Paul Allen’s Vulcan Ventures dumped its entire holding in Broderbund Software Inc over a ten-day period during July and August. Allen sold 1.12 million shares, representing 5.6% stake in Broderbund, at prices ranging from $21.25 to $23.38. But it turns out he dumped his position too soon, as since the sale, the stock has soared more than 30%, closing Thursday at $30.625. That amounts to about $9.3m that Allen denied himself.
