Patriot Scientific Corp has now finished testing its Shboom microprocessor which will be fabricated by National Semiconductor Corp for shipment by year-end. The processor, a high performance 32-bit RISC chip, is likely to be used in embedded systems, particularly video games and Patriot said that it would license the processors and offer them OEM as well as developing its own products using Shboom. It has received the first US patent for the second generation processor. The company’s first generation Shboom processors use both dynamic and static memory chips operating at clock speeds of 80MHz and 100MHz. Patriot Scientific also develops and commercialises scientific radar sensors and antennae.
