IBM is seeking a number of experienced attorneys to assume direct responsibility for patents and other intellectual property matters in specific technical product areas. Assignments are available in the Burlington, Vermont; Raleigh, North Carolina; Tucson, Arizona; Boca Raton, Florida; and Yorktown, Endicott, Fishkill and Poughkeepsie, New York areas. Positions require technical undergraduate degrees, a JD or LLB, admission to the Bar and experience before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Qualifications should include a minimum of three years patent and other intellectual property law experience in any of the following fields: signal processing, computer systems, computer programming, digital electronic circuits, semiconductor devices and processes, and communications. AST Research Inc, Irvine, California, is offering $50m of 8.5% convertible subordinated debentures due 2013 at par through First Boston Corp. The debentures will be convertible into AST common shares at a rate of $15.50 per share, which compares with a current price in the market of $12.25.
