Patent reveals monocle and headband Google Glass design

News: The US Patent and Trademark Office granted a new patent to Google.

By CBR Staff Writer

Google has secured a new patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for a potential next version of Google Glass.

The company earlier renamed its Glass wearable project as Aura, and hired Amazon Lab126 consumer electronics experts for development.

Several reports have described the new device as a monocle, which wraps around the user’s head.

The Google Glass 2 may feature a monocle design, resting on one ear. The display will be placed a little above the eye of the person who wears it.

The molded thermoplastic elastomer will enable to adjust to the form of the person’s head. It automatically adjusts itself whenever the user puts it on.

The patent abstract says: "The band is adjustable such that it can be configured by a user to contact the head of the user at a first location near a temple, a second location along a portion of the user’s ear adjacent the temple, and at a third location along a rear portion of the head of the user.

"The display end is positionable away from the head such that the display element is suspended over an eye adjacent to the temple."
