PASSPORT OFFICE CONTRACT GOES TO THORN EMI SOFTWARE SERVICES – NOT EDS

The Guardian has been castigating Electronic Data Systems over the past couple of months for allegedly telling US employees coming to the UK to conceal from British immigration authorities that they would be working on a bid being prepared by EDS – but it was all in vain anyway because the contract, to install the computer system to automate the Passport Office has gone to Thorn EMI Software Sciences: the contract is part of a UKP5m programme to add machine-readable code to passports.
