PARADYNE CUTS WORKFORCE BY FURTHER 7%, MAINLY AT HEADQUARTERS

Having cut 280 jobs in November, Paradyne Corp is cutting its workforce by another 260, 7%, mainly at its Largo, Florida headquarters: the company is forecasting a loss for the fourth quarter because of softness in the market, and the new cuts are intended to reduce expenses by another $9m; the data communications equipment company reported a loss of $15.8m on turnover of $60.2m in the 1985 fourth quarter.
