Pansophic (UK) Ltd has installed its Pansophic Resource Management System at the St Neots, Cambridgeshire-based laminates manufacturer, Samuel Jones Ltd. The installation is part of a UKP1.5m project to provide MRP II capability, replacing a BOPS sales order processing, stock control, sales ledger and weekly payroll system that was running on a bureau 4381 alongside a System 36 running the PROPICS and Spectra manufacturing and financial systems. The new accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger was installed on April 1, with sales order processing, purchasing, stock records and factory orders going live on July 1 – both systems run on AS/400 machines. Samuel Jones says it aims to have a closed-loop MRP II by January and Just-in-Time operations to facilitate big reductions in stockholding. The package includes a Conference Room Pilot so that users can model current and future systems and assess changes to existing operating practices before implementing the system. Planned enhancements at Samuel Jones include bar coding and an Electronic Data Interchange link.
