PANSOPHIC SYSTEMS MOVES TO VERSION 5 OF FUSION FOR AS/400, SYSTEM 38

By CBR Staff Writer

Pansophic Systems Inc has released Version 5.0 of its Fusion/38 information retrieval and data management system, designed for the IBM System/38 and the AS/400. The Oakbrook, Illinois-based company claims that the upgrade offers a number of new features, including the industry first Advanced Source Code Generation, which provides users with source code generation capabilities for Open File Query functions. Similarly, claims Pansophic, a new Open Query File Processing facility offers greater flexibility in executing reports, selecting records and linking files, while an Advanced Output Formatting feature increases the ability to format reports according to user specifications. With the new User Specified Processing facility, claims Pansophic, users are also able to modify certain processing methods to meet individual requirements. They can, for example choose between the creation of permanent or temporary logical files, optimising both the use of resources, and machine performance. A final boost to user productivity comes in the shape of completely revised documentation and educational support. The upgrade costs upwards of $15,000, depen-ding upon configuration, and is available now. At a more general level, Pansophic says it will continue to support System/36 and System/38-based products, but that migrated AS/400 versions of Fusion software are now available. The company says it also has the development of a native version, written specifically for the AS/400 environment, well under way.
