PANASONIC TO GAIN A TOEHOLD IN US MARKET

By CBR Staff Writer

The Panasonic Office Automation Group also complemented enhancements made in the autumn to its narrow carriage printer line with price cuts on its wide-carriage dot matrix printers, saying it wanted to position itself as a more aggressive player in the business printer market. The Panasonic KX-P1595 136-column business printer is cut 11% to $800. reduced from $899. The printer runs at 240chps in draft mode and 51chps in near-letter-quality. The new suggested retail price for the KX-P1592 is $669, down from $699. It offers 180chps in draft mode and 38chps in near-letter-quality. The completion of our narrow carriage enhancements with the recently introduced KX-P10921, coupled with the competitive price reductions gives us head-to head price positioning against our leading competitors with a distinctive performance advantage at 240 chps, according to Jim Cullen, who is national marketing manager for Panasonic’s Computer Products Division.
