Pakistan Govt. asks for SLAs after DDoS attacks

The Pakistani Telecommunications Corp Ltd (PTCL) has been asked by the Pakistani government to give ISPs 99% uptime service level agreements, following a prolonged denial of service attack that has paralyzed many web sites, according to reports.

The Pakistan News Service reported yesterday that Minister for IT & Telecom Owais Leghari asked PTCL to enforce the SLA, apparently promised three years ago, after several government web sites became inaccessible over the last month.

The attacks, believed to be caused by computers infected with the year-old Yaha worm, target government web sites, but they also have affected other web sites hosted in Pakistan, the PNS reported.
