PAGEABILITY SENDS E-MAIL TO PAGERS AND MOBILE PHONES

By CBR Staff Writer

Shareware reseller The Software Labs Inc has announced PageAbility an application that enable personal computers to send text to messaging pagers or Short Messaging Service enabled mobile phones via the internet. The software enables the transfer of electronic mail, scheduling details and other information to alphanumeric pagers. PageAbility, available for Windows 95 and NT, is compatible with applications which support Microsoft Corp’s Messaging API application programming interfaces. It forwards the electronic mail onto pager services that transfer electronic mail onto pagers in their network and it can also use a modem to direct dial into a pager service and transfer messages, by converting them into telephone codes. Privately owned, Redmond, Washington-based, Software Labs is shipping PageAbility from 10 October for $49.95 through consumer chains and direct from its website.
