PACKARD BELL COMPUTERS A HIT IN RUSSIA

By CBR Staff Writer

Packard Bell Electronics Inc’s sole distributor, Office Computer Systems, says it has shipped nearly 10,000 personal computers in Russia, Ukraine and Belorus, since Packard Bell entered the Russian market late 1994. St Petersburg-based Office Computer Systems now has a Moscow office and a Moscow warehouse, and will move the focus of its operation to the Russian capital by the end of this year. A branch in Perm is now being set up. Having appointed a large number of small dealers, the company is now looking for volume distributors. This summer it awarded Ekaterinburg-based Quorus sole distribution rights in its city and the surrounding region. At Comtek, Merisel CAT also agreed to take on Packard Bell as its budget line of personal computers.
